Melbourne, Australia
Fans of Anthony Bourdain, brazen host of the Travel Channel’s popular “No Reservations,” can now follow in the food junkie’s footsteps through the gastronomic wonderland of Melbourne, Australia. A particularly mouthwatering recent episode of the culinary travel show featured a hungry Bourdain eating his way through Australia’s food capitol. In honor of the visit, tour operator Swain Tours has created a special package celebrating the best culinary treats Melbourne and the surrounding region have to offer.
Following the same path as Bourdain and crew, travelers taking advantage of the “Eat Your Way Through Melbourne” package will stay five nights in Melbourne, one night in Apollo Bay, two nights in Port Fairy and two nights in Dunkeld, enjoying the varied food and wine of the state of Victoria.
Ten breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners (one is a ten-course tasting menu) are included in the package, along with a private “behind the scenes” Melbourne Markets tour, a Yarra Valley Wineries tour and a private chef led journey though Mornington Peninsula (a particularly scenic area just southeast of Melbourne, known for beautiful beaches, great wine and fantastic food).
A seven-day car rental rounds out the list of package inclusions, allowing you to explore at your own pace.
The “Eat Your Way Through Melbourne” package is $3,199 per person, based on double occupancy, and is good for travel through March 31, 2010.
