November 28, 2009: Whoopi Goldberg didn’t pull any punches, showing frustration about how people are still flying sick while the spread of H1N1 (swine flu) continues. The award-winning talk show host discussed this conundrum on the Friday, November 27 edition of ‘The View’ by asking:
"What do you think of this? More than half the people flying over the holidays said they'd board a plane even IF they knew they had the H1N1 virus or the flu, according to Trip Advisor and a CNN poll... They said the reason they would do that is because it is too costly to rebook."
An astounded Whoopi griped that, in her opinion, when airlines lose luggage or don't leave or take-off on time, passengers must endure those aspects of travel. Yet, according to Goldberg, these same people get nothing but grief in return.
In essence, the very verbal television personality questioned why airlines don’t offer ill travelers who could potentially expose others either refunds or delayed use of their pre-paid tickets. She seemed to infer that this would be a better solution than exposing an entire plane load of passengers to H1N1 (swine flu).
Whoopi was adamant.
As she put it, [The airlines) never say, 'I am charging you to go to the bathroom. I am charging you to have something to drink on the plane. I am charging you for the pillow. I am charging you for the light that you turn on. And you know what? If you have the H1N1 and you don't want to give everyone [on the plane this virus], stay home."
"Would you have to provide a doctor's note?" was co-host Elizabeth Hasslebeck's final concern on the controversial subject.

We do need a spokesperson who is adamant. I would have missed this if you had not shared. Thanks.
