Blackjack, anyone?
Talk about a hotel that's game.
When I checked into the boutique Serrano Hotel in San Francisco, I was told I would need to play 21 before I would be given my key.
Huh?
Yep! Blackjack, a card challenge I am not usually up to winning.
Luckily, this time I did. My hand showed two tens, the front desk staffer of this nifty Kimpton Hotel, two nines.
Whew!
What I won was a free room upgrade (other prizes include free movie rentals and free appetizers at the on-site restaurant, Ponzu).
What I could have lost was five bucks, proceeds going directly to a Serrano charity like the San Francisco SPCA and Dress For Success.
I call that a win/win, and a fun way to start your stay in scene-stealing San Francisco.
P.S Not enough game playing for you? Never fear, the Serrano offers an entire room -- called The Game Library -- for all guests who passed the Check-in Challenge. ?

What an entertaining hotel. With this fun attitude it would be a good place to stay.
