Make time for the peaceful Byodo-In Temple

This peaceful Buddhist temple is a scale replica of a 950-year-old temple found in Uji, Japan. The temple is located in the Valley of the Temples on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The non-denominational temple is open from 9am until 5pm daily and cash is the only accepted form of payment for the admission charge. For three dollars per adult (reduced rates for seniors and children), one can walk the grounds, chime the bell of tranquility, and see a nine-foot wood Buddha covered in gold and lacquer. If a visitor would like to enter the center section of the temple for a closer look at the Amida Buddha then it is expected that the visitor remove his or her shoes before entering. While this is a Buddhist temple, all individuals are welcome to visit the site on the condition that they act in a respectful manner. Visitors of all ages are welcome and children are often seen enjoying the wide variety of wildlife found throughout the location. For a dollar, one can purchase a small bag of food to feed the beautiful koi. There are also zebra doves, ducks, spotted doves, swans, peacocks, and turtles found on the grounds as well.
