Travel Warning reduced to Travel Precaution

Normal life in Mexico City is returning. Stores, restaurants, bars, and museums are opening and people are back on the streets trying to make up for lost time due to the recent swine flu scare. As for those of us in the United States, once affected schools are reopening and people in most cities are trying to leave the swine flu saga behind. Even travel restrictions are lightening up. As of May 20, the CDC’s Travel Health Warning advising against travel to Mexico has been lowered to a Travel Health Precaution.

The risk of catching the swine flu or H1N1 flu, from travel to Mexico, at this point, is not much higher than the risk of staying here and catching it. Actually the number of confirmed cases in the United States is higher than the number of confirmed cases in Mexico. Thus, all travelers and residents staying in their own towns must take standard precautions, but no longer are asked to sacrifice their big plans.
Currently the swine flu, like most forms of the flu is most dangerous to children, the elderly, and those whose immune systems are already weakened. Just to be sure, before travel, you might want to get a routine check up from your doctor and get any recommended vaccines. To find out which are recommended, inform your doctor of your travel plans and research ahead of time where you would go if you did get sick and whether or not your health insurance would cover you. Pack your hand sanitizer and tissues. Wash your hands often, avoiding touching items that are touched by multitudes of people or severely crowded places.

The U.S. is not currently screening travelers coming in or out of the country. Mexico, however, according to their authorities, is conducting screenings on passengers who appear to be showing symptoms of sickness. The revisions are voluntary and should not impede travel.

Although in many areas, the swine flu’s threat is subsiding, you can continue to stay abreast of updates to the situation through the CDC, Center for Disease Control and Prevention at wwwn.cdc.gov or 1-800-232-4636.

It seems that the American government doesn't really care to much about it's country people unlike Mexico where they do health screenings and close down public celebrations and practically close down the city where in america the only thing they care about is our economy not it's American citizens. Hands up Mexico for trying to contain the virus BOO Greedy America.
