I'm going to make this short and sweet. We went to check out the Hotel Bel-Air today. In case you didn't know, the prime property, hidden up a slight hill off Sunset Blvd., in one of the priciest parts of Los Angeles, just reopened after a two year renovation.
As former regulars of the hotel, Richard and I weren't sure what to expect. Afterall this iconic, multi-million dollar baby has a reputation to uphold as one of the last bastions of high society style living where royalty, rock stars and ravishing movie stars like the late Marilyn Monroe bedded down for decades creating a mixture of upper crust, pop and contemporary cultures.
Rumors ran rampant about how the hotel looked, much it contrary to the truth, which is, a wow factor, gorgeous property that's managed to be upgraded to modern times without losing its old world charm. Sure there's a new, younger vibe, but it needed to have life breathed into it. And, today at lunch at Wolfgang Puck at the Hotel Bel-Air, diners represented the entire age chain.
Lunch was delicious,by the way, the restaurant still feels the same, but looks years younger. But I'm still digesting everything we saw, so you really need to come back tomorrow for the whole skinny on the re-invention of this 103-room pink palace member of the prestigious Dorechestor Collection.
