Is connectivity or transportation lacking at California State University, Fresno? Besides being able to drive to and from and park on campus, Fresno and Clovis both provide transit bus service to the university. But, is this enough? As a Fresno resident, you now have a chance to weigh in, have your voice heard and make your vote count regarding not only a proposed Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system for on-campus use by students, faculty and staff alike, but you will also have the opportunity to vote on other public transportation options for Fresno.
PRT is but one among several public transportation ideas or options being presented to Fresno residents on Mon., Aug. 2 and Tues., Aug. 3.
“Fresno residents are invited to view presentations and vote on future designs for FastTrack at a special event Monday at the Tower Theatre,” according to information in yesterday’s Fresno Bee.
“At Monday’s event, residents will be able to watch presentations on streetcar decision, Personal Rapid Transit for California State University, Fresno, and land-use scenarios that will support the planned investment in bus rapid transit.”
From the FastTrack Fresno County Web site there is this: “Fresno residents will be asked to vote on key streetcar alignment decisions and technology options on Monday, Aug. 2, at a FastTrack Fresno County event at the Tower Theatre. Another presentation and vote on the streetcar will be made at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, to downtown merchants and property owners at the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce.
“FastTrack Fresno County is finding ways for Fresno area residents to live and travel in the future – ways that will help reduce traffic congestion, slash harmful vehicle emissions, and reduce urban sprawl.”
