In the author’s discussions with her local Sacramentan trans-friends, a very important topic has recently surfaced. Though there is a huge tendency to label transgenderism/transsexuality as a mere life choice, in reality, it is so much more than that. As this essay will explain, it is instead the individual’s life force and nature, which if avoided, may lead to catastrophic and unnecessary depression.
First and foremost, in the author’s choice, she would never have chosen her transsexuality as a mere life choice. Though extremely proud of whom she is, she never in a million years would have wanted the strife involved. In short, this was not a decision made on a whim for fun, but rather, a lifesaving choice after a life full of suicidal and self-injurious thoughts.
In the author’s discussions with trans-friends, virtually all of them have admitted that they only accepted the trans-self upon the near collapse of their lives. After realizing that there was no way to avoid, they finally embraced that which they were. Even upon coming out, however, many struggle the entire life to truly accept the self. Taking the hardships into account, this labeling of transgenderism/transsexuality as a mere life choice, should be seen as a great slander propagated by transphobic society.
Last but not least, if still unconvinced, science shall set things straight. Uncovering the truth on the existence of transgender/transsexual genes, it proves that it is in fact a part of the trans-individual’s DNA. Those still in denial, ought to get in touch with something useful called an education.
