In the conversations the author has had with her local trans-friends, the inevitable topics of pain, depression, hopelessness, etc., have commonly come to the forefront. In both her support groups and everyday life, she has become all too aware of the suffering that surfaces even the steeliest of trans-folk. Whilst some have dealt with the past, the vast majorities have not, and thus, this essay provides trans-folk, both in Sacramento and abroad, a haven to heal past wounds and trauma.

First and foremost, the fact of the matter is that trans-folk endure some of the most violent discrimination known to humankind. Because of this, they typically struggle to live happy lives, and most that do, have at some point experienced trauma and human rights violations. What results is a low self-image, and in the case of the author, it nearly took her life.

After a failed suicide attempt, the author finally realized the need for treatment. Having been informed by her last therapist of a trans-friendly center, she capitulated to the dire realities of her situation. Having at last reached the end of her rope, she did the brave thing and asked for help.

The facility’s name is The Life Healing Center of Santa Fe, and whilst out of state, it is the premier treatment center in the country, providing folks worldwide a safe environment to heal. Whilst most treatment centers cater to a specific crowd, The Life Healing Center caters to a very broad base. Whatever the trauma, whatever the addiction, whoever the person, the friendly staff shall be happy to provide. Best of all, is the holistic approach the center offers. From GLBTQ support groups, to meditation, from 12 step meetings, to DBT, etc., the center provides an individualized approach that meets each and every client’s needs.

In the end, all trans-people considering, need not worry, for the center is a safe and welcoming place skilled in working with GLBTQ folk. For more information, check out the website, and if interested, contact the center by phone. It was here the author got her life back and here that she finally learned to love her trans-self.
