It's a long standing tradition in the town of Milford, CT. People come from around Connecticut and New England for a taste of the east coast's oysters. Last year's oyster menu featured oysters from Harrington Bay, ME, Yorktown, VA, and Norwalk, CT, among others. There's sure to be a fine mix of seafood, hot dogs, burgers, and fries from local vendors as well.

The 35th Annual Milford Oyster Festival is a free admission weekend on Friday, August 14th from 5-9pm and Saturday, August 15th 10am-6pm. The oysters will be there rain or shine. So will the entertainment. Arts and crafts will be set up on the Milford green featuring over 200 artisans. The Big Toys Area can be found in the parking lot behind Archie Moore's and Harrison's Hardware. This area is fun for kids of all ages. A BMX Bicycle Stunt Show will take place at 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. There will also be a Slap Shot Machine and Ultimate Game Trailer.

The Classic Car Hop can be found at Milford Harbor Lisman Landing on Saturday. Car and motorcycle registration is between 9-10am. Classic cars and motorcycles will be on display from 10am-6pm. To register visit their website to print a PDF form. A registration fee will apply for each car.

The Oyster Festival is very much child friendly and family oriented. There will be children's entertainment on the children's stage as well as walk-around performances such as Dimples the Clown and The Amazing Andy. Click here for an entertainment schedule.

The main stage will feature live music on Saturday between 11:30am and 5:15pm. Promptly at 10am Saturday morning the annual canoe and kayak races will begin. Registration is from 8:30-9:30am. Schooner cruises will be available during the daytime and sunset Friday and Saturday for an additional cost. A vintage WWII Patrol Torpedo, PT-728, will feature cruises with a reduced cost for veterans and children.

Free shuttle buses will run starting 9am until 7pm. The designated parking lots are at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall and Jonathan Law High School. Click here for directions to the parking lots and shuttle buses. The festival will be in downtown Milford near the Milford harbor. You can also take the Metro North train to the Milford station, conveniently dropping you off near the action.
