Authorities have charged a 36-year-old Irvington man in connection with the weekend hit-and-run death of another man outside the Mantra Restaurant in Paramus, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said Monday morning.
Raqeeb Green, 36, of 524 Grove Street in Irvington was charged with "leaving the scene of an accident with death" after Kevin Brewington, 37 of Paterson, was killed early Sunday, Molinelli said.
The incident began after an argument broke out between groups from Paterson and Newark at the restaurant at around 2:35 a.m., Molinelli said.
One group left and got into three vehicles, including a van allegedly driven by Green (pictured right), while the other group followed and began chasing them around the parking lot and jumping on the moving van.
"One of the van's windows is broken during this. The victim [Brewington], who may have been intoxicated, attempts to either open the van door or jumps on its side door," Molinelli said.
When the van went over a curb, Brewington somehow hit his head killing him, according to Molinelli.
Molinelli said Green's alleged actions apparently led to Brewington's death.
Police found Green’s van in South Orange and later arrested him at a home in town.

Officials declined to say if they had any witnesses or footage from a security camera over a portion of the parking lot and did not return a message seeking further information Monday morning.
Green, also known as "Qeeb," is the owner of Monee Green Entertainment, a hip-hop production company based in East Orange, Molinelli said.
On a LinkedIn page attributed to Green, he writes about working on an upcoming record with hip-hop star Lil Kim.
Investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and Paramus police worked at the crime scene into late Sunday morning.
Green was booked at the Bergen County Jail on $100,000 bail and was released on bail, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Mantra Restaurant is located at the Mall at IV on Route 4 west between Kinderkamack Road and Forest Avenue.
