Say it ain't so, Joe: Biden caught on tape saying "gimme a f---ing break"

Vice President Joe Biden was caught saying the dreaded f-word on a "hot mic" on Friday, speaking to a former Senate colleague whom he called "Mr. Chairman," Biden is heard to say "gimme a f--king break."

It's hard to find actual uncut video or audio of Biden's remark, but it has been reported by several media outlets including the LA Times and RealClearPolitics.

Below is a video from the Mark Levin radio show that has the audio clip. It's bleeped out, but you can imagine what Biden really said without difficulty.

(Update: I still haven't heard the unedited tape.)

Poor Joe. It seems no one pays him any attention unless he is doing or saying something stupid. The Veep was speaking at Union Station to tout the $1.3 billion in new spending for Amtrak in the recovery act.

Update: This generated a lot of response. I'm responding here.

Wow, that is particularly egregious. In spite of all the problems the United States faces at this time I am especially outraged by his using the ASP bomb. This was really worth the bandwidth and commenting that it took me to look at this story bringing a smile to my face and making me wonder about the intelligence of people who post crap like this on the Internet. Ask me why the United States has gone all to hell. Because our press has the intelligence of Britney Spears.

This is news, with all the issues we have on our plate today? Another ridiculous distraction in a day when we need to keep our eye on bigger issues, like the economy and war stupid!

Are you f***ing kidding me? That's f***ing rediculous! Joe, how f***ing dare you do something as horrible as f***ing say f***?! Don't you have more f***ing important things to do like f*** up the environment, f*** over the economy, start a f***ing war or trample all over our f***ing civil liberties?

I mean, come on Joe, WHAT THE F***???

Rant all you want, this IS news. The guy may be "down to earth" (pretentious is more like it) but he isn't taking this or any other act of his Vice Presidency seriously. They don't a a f-bomb clue of what to do, so this IS what makes the news.

unfracking believable for those that still can't understand it; this is exactly what jon stewart was talking about, the purposeful ineptitude of the media. the house are is burning down and you're reporting not that there's a fire or how it started but that the firemen/women are cursing.

This makes me sick. I can't believe what i have read. All the previous comments are about the media reporting this incident. where has our good country gone. Not only does the story make me sick, but when i read all these comments and realized that our morals are so far down the tube that no one cares about our elected officials and how they represent themselves. I only found this because my son found the youtube audio and showed me what old Joe had said. Then i just did some checking to see if the story was true and i found this great mess in front of me. I believe this country will only get better when the majority of the people think opposite of how every single person who commented on this article changes their attitude to these situations.

I teach my children not to swear by not doing it my self and those who find it hard not to swear really need to check their own character and how their raising their children.

This really sounds like a bunch of joe supporters ripping the author of this article!

Out Social security system is broken, the country is BROKE, workers are about to have their private ballot taken away when voting for unionization, our the illegal immigrants are about to become legal, our second ammendment rights are being tested, the President is really Nancy Pelosi, we have mortgaged the future of our great grandchildren, and the fact that our Vice President swears makes the news. Good Grief, how unimportant can you get.

I think that issues such as whether children get health care, whether the United States is respected for its integrity overseas, and whether poor and middle class kids get a chance at college are more important than whether the Vice-President uses ungenteel language that is picked up by a random microphone. Please give us all a break. The righteous indignation of the far-right is so disingenuous that it boggles ones mind. Do those giving so much protest, realize how shallow it makes them?

It sounds like the reason he said 'give me a f******g break' was because he didn't want his old friends calling him mr. vp. ;-) IE: You don't have to call me "Boss". This is a joke. He's not mad at the senators...he's simply saying just call me 'joe'.

It's amazing how the double standard is so prolific among the Democrats. When the Dems make a faulty judgement and get caught at it by the liberal press,It's just whitewashed but if a Rep does it,he's immoral or it's unbecoming of a person in such a high position.

OK, so Biden is human. Like him or not, that's the big news flash. I've struggled with my daggone cussing habit for a while now, with some success, and I know how difficult it can be to stop. I'd guess Mr. Biden will give some thought to giving up his cussing habit now too. No doubt, people judge you more harshly if, mere weeks after you're shown at an important televised presidential speech wearing ashes on your forehead for Lent, you're heard at another public function using a vulgar bit of language. Good luck quitting, Joe.

Author's picture (at top) speaks volumes... he's whispering like a junior high school gossip.

    Let's compare:

VP Cheney, on the Senate Floor, in anger, told a Democrat to "Go f*#k yourself".

VP Biden, at a train station, in jest with a friend when the friend called him "Mr. Vice President", or "Mr. Chairman", said with a smile on his face "Give me an f&*Kin break"

Yes, we would prefer our leaders never cussed, *Adam*, but some times they do.

What makes a lot of Americans *sick*, Adam, is that so there's still over 50 million people (the 25% of nation who still believe Bush did a wonderful job protecting us) who do not have the power of thought to differentiate the ocean of difference between these two f-bomb slips.

    Give me a break, *Adam*.

Who cares? I do. It is unfortunate for any of us to use this language and I think it's a shame so many of you do find it acceptable.

Have I used that language? Yes and sadly I still do. I work hard to contain my language to limited times/places, but do fail on occasion, just as VPs Biden and Cheney have. Of course the price for this lapse in judgment is small, but the price will continue to grow over time, as we continue to lower our standards of decency.

Who cares! I agree-- this isn't news! This is another idiotic way for me to distract myself from thought and work, and it's cloaked in the guise of scandal or meaning. Another example of the double-standard American minds unknowingly rely on in order to titillate themselves: claim a moral standard we've denied all reason to accept, so that "good taste" is a game we play. A way to tickle ourselves into feeling whole. I'm flipping between this and pornographic sites. I'm an animal. No, I'm not, wait, f**k!
