The campaign website of Rep. Joe Wilson - the crank who shouted "You lie!" during a Presidential address last week - came under cyberattack on Friday.
On Sunday, Wilson told Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that he won't apologize on the House floor for the outburst. He claims to "support civility."
Wilson and his Democratic opponent Rob Miller have been flooded with cash since the incident during President Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress last week.
Mashable is reporting that Wilson's campaign website came under sustained cyberattack on Friday at around 3 pm CST and the attack lasted for about 11 hours, until 1:45 am CST on Saturday.
Hackers overwhelmed the Wilson campaign site with traffic from networks of computers in a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS). Knocking out the campaign website prevented Wilson from receiving online payments for donations.
The company hosting the site, Piryx, told Mashable that the effort to fight off the DDoS attack took 40 manhours and 10 IT staff completely "monopolized" to mitigate it.
Fox News is reporting that Wilson's campaign website was forced to shut down for several hours due to the attack.
DDoS attacks send a huge surge in badwidth and "packet" traffic to the IP address of the website under attack. Wilson's site was hit by "500+ Mbps of traffic, which would run about $147,500 per month in bandwidth overages," Piryx said in an email, according to Mashable.
Perhaps in a nod to irony, a Wilson flack told Fox that this kind of uncivil behavior is unfair and an attempt to "stifle" his "voice."
"This is an obvious effort to stifle the congressman's voice for a common-sense approach for health care reform," a source familiar with Wilson's campaign told Fox.

I am so thankful that someone has the intestinal fortitude to speak up to squash the lies that Obama speaks every time he opens his mouth. He lied during his campagn and he contunues to do so.
