Using each moment of their short week wisely between road games against the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady spoke out on a variety of topics this week, including the gender of his unborn child, his desire to become more active in the NFL players' union and his feelings on the Tiger Woods drama.
Speaking to WEEI Sports Radio in Boston on Wednesday, Brady admitted that he knows the gender of the upcoming addition, but his wife, Gisele Bundchen, wants to be surprised.
"I'm really the only one that knows at this point... My dad asked me. I haven't told him. [Gisele] doesn't know. It's a pretty good feeling knowing something that no one else knows," he told WEEI.
Also this week, Brady announced that he has taken a larger role as the assistant players' representative in the NFL players' union. He hopes to bring to light the players' need for fair compensation when they put their bodies on the line for the job.
"The Commissioner has talked about the risk the owners take. We're not financially invested in ownership, so we don't face that [financial risk], but we're physically invested in this... What's the price tag for that? Ask Kevin Everett the price tag," Brady said.
Although Brady seems to have the perfect relationship with new bride Gisele Bunchen, he did take some time to comment about golfer Tiger Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren, specifically the media pressure they face as celebrities.
Speaking at his weekly Wednesday press conference, Brady stated, "Everyone's situation is different... Things happen in people's lives. I'll just wish everybody the best. Everybody needs to find their own way, find their own happiness. We're all... I think everybody in this room has some degree of notoriety. You have to understand what comes along with that and try to make the best decisions you can."
Tom Brady did of course also speak about football during his media availability, including the upcoming game against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday afternoon. He stressed that the "mourning period" for reflecting on the loss to the Saints is over, stating, "That game has come and gone. We can't do anything to change it. Let's go play Miami, I think that is the attitude in the locker room."
