So You Think You Can Dance wicked routine inspired by 'Alice in Wonderland'

Last night's 'So You Think You Can Dance' opened with a pleasantly startling routine inspired by "Alice in Wonderland." Yes, this was no ordinary fairy tale routine, but a tripped-out, wired up version of the classic.

Choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon who are known for their hip hop routines, took an abstract approach to their style and wowed the audience. The dance was choreographed to "What's a girl gotta do" by Basement Jaxx.

The costumes were outrageuos, the lighting gave an eerie tone, and the set was simple and fantastic. This combination grabbed the audience and thrust them down the rabbit's hole, as the routine took them through a glimse into their Wonderland.

Tim Burton would most likely be proud to see another twisted whimsical, approach taken to interpret and tell this story. With the release of 'Alice in Wonderland' coming March 5, 2010, it will be interesting to see what other shows use this incredible story for inspiration.
