Organizing with jars - Part II

Organizing with jars - Part II

Jars with flat tops maximize storage space.

Using jars to organize not only makes it easy for you to gather ingredients for a meal, dessert, or snack, but family members and guests will love this system as well.

The jars used in the photo to the left come in three sizes (small jars on the top row, medium on the bottom row, and the large jar is featured in the last picture). I prefer to use jars with flat tops so they stack easily.

Vintage jars mixed with discount store jars make an appealing display.

Jars can be used to store nuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, oats, quinoa, rice, craisins, sugar, flour, cornmeal, and trail mix, etc. Vintage jars mixed with discount store jars make an appealing display.

Determine what items you use regularly and what size jar you need for each item. Adjust your shelf height to maximize space.

   Use a variety of sizes.

Use a fine point, permanent marker such as a Sharpie to label each jar. Don't worry, the ink won't come off on your hand. To erase a label use a damp paper towel to rub off the label.
