Obama's first Judge appointment is scary
Obama’s first judicial nominee David Hamilton is an perfect example of what is to come. It is vital that conservative’s fight this nomination. Hamilton is an Indiana native. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Haverford College in 1979 followed by his J.D. Yale Law School. He has worked as a law clerk for the very liberal Judge Richard Dickson Cudahy. He then worked in private legal practice in Indianapolis from 1984 until and 1989 as an associate at the law firm of Barnes & Thornburg. He served as legal counsel to Indiana Governor Evan Bayh from 1989 until 1991. Hamilton returned to Barnes & Thornburg in Indianapolis, he worked his way to partner in 1991. In 1994 he was appointed to bench for southern District of Indiana. So now he has been chosen for U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
Ok Bill what is wrong with him? If I told you Obama is going to support a man that has attacked first amendment rights, made it easier for child sex offenders to move around Indiana by invalidating a law designed to protect children. He ruled against waiting periods for those women seeking abortions. Was a fundraiser for the corrupt group ACORN you know the same group that that submitted thousands of fraudulent voter registration cards. Would you say yea right I suppose he used to work as an ACLU lawyer to. Yup that is true.
Besides all the above here is more reasons for rejecting him. What appears to be vast liberal media bias including the ABA (American Bar Association) to see him on the bench. Tell me why in 1994 did the ABA rate him as “not qualified” when Bill Clinton appointed him? Today, the ABA gave him the highest standard they give “Well Qualified”. A standard higher than recent appointee’s William G. Myers, William Pryor, Janice Brown, Thomas Beall, James Payne, oh here’s one you all know Samuel Alito WQ with 1 recusal. So I guess the ABA thinks this Hamilton is more qualified than Samuel Alito. Well what do all these under qualified judges have in common? They are all considered conservatives. You see the ABA gives higher ratings to liberal judges that are more in tune to the Trial Lawyer Association lobby. Oh they try and cover it up after all they gave a “Well Qualified” to a superb Lawyer like John G. Roberts. However, in general they do not like conservative Lawyers’.
The media has described Mr. Hamilton as a “moderate” CNN, New York Times all describe him as moderate. Yet the facts are shocking on some of his rulings. His corrupt ties to acorn, and ACLU attorney should raise flags to all conservative’s. Nope, the not so conservative and wimpy republican Senator Richard Lugee I mean Lugar said he supports his nomination. So much for voting to do the right thing I wonder what Lugee got for his support. I guess since he is from the same state as Senator Lugee that will make him a good judge? I can think of no solid reason to vote for this judge. Bill isn’t that a similar record to other Liberal Judges? Well yes but here is one difference.
You see judge Hamilton made this ruling In November 2005, Hamilton drew headlines for ruling that the Indiana state legislature is not permitted to begin its sessions with Christian prayers, and that invocations must not use names like Jesus Christ or Christian terms like savior. Hamilton concluded that using proselytizing words in invocations at the statehouse violated the Consititution "All are free to pray as they wish in their own houses of worship or in other settings," Hamilton wrote. "Those who wish to participate in a practice of official prayer must be willing to stay within Constitutional bounds." You see every state and even the U.S legislature has had a similar tradition since the inception of this nation. His attack on this nation’s founding fathers core beliefs and disregard for state tradition show that this judge is not qualified to be on the bench. No honorable person should support this poor excuse for a Judge.

Let's hope that all the things Snyder says are true.
It's a small beginning toward undoing all the damage done to the Judiciary during the Bush Administration.
Here's really scary--GOP Senator Lugar introduced him:
Press Release of Senator Lugar
Lugar Introduction Statement for Judge David Hamilton
Wednesday, April 1, 2009
U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar made the following statement at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing to consider Judge David Hamilton to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit:
Thank you, Mr. Chairman, for this opportunity to join my friend and colleague from Indiana in introducing Judge David Hamilton, whom the President has nominated to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Senator Bayh and I are proud that President Obamas first judicial nominee is from our State, and that he has chosen to elevate such an exceptionally talented jurist to the Federal appellate bench.
I first had the pleasure of introducing David Hamilton to this Committee almost 15 years ago, when he was nominated to the Federal district court. I said then that the high quality of his education, legal experience, and character well prepare him for this position, and expressed my belief that his keen intellect and strong legal background will make him a great judge. This confidence in David Hamiltons character and abilities was shared by all who knew him, regardless of political affiliation, throughout Indianas legal and civic communities. Judge Hamiltons distinguished service on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, of which he is now the Chief Judge, has more than vindicated that faith.
I have known David since his childhood. His father, Reverend Richard Hamilton, was our familys pastor at St. Lukes United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, where his mother was the soloist in the choir. Knowing first-hand his familys character and commitment to service, it has been no surprise to me that Davids life has borne witness to the values learned in his youth.
David graduated with honors from Pennsylvanias Haverford College, won a Fulbright Scholarship to study in Germany at the University of Tuebingen, and then earned his law degree at Yale. After clerking for Seventh Circuit Judge Richard Cudahy, David joined the Indianapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg where he became a partner and acquired extensive litigation experience in the Indiana and Federal judicial systems. When our colleague Senator Bayh was elected Governor of Indiana, he asked David to serve as his Chief Legal Counsel. Among other achievements in that role, David supervised the overhaul of State ethics rules and guidelines, and coordinated judicial and prosecutorial appointments.
In the latter capacity, David worked closely with Judge John Tinder, then a Reagan-appointee to the district bench, whom President Bush recently appointed to the Seventh Circuit with the unanimous support of this Committee and the full Senate. When David was nominated to the district court, Judge Tinder wrote to me that David was meticulous in asking the difficult questions of and about judicial nominees, and that his approach to these duties typifies the deliberate and sensitive way in which he approaches matters in his professional life.
The same is true of Davids approach to his judicial duties. Leading members of the Indiana bar testify to his brilliance and, as important, to his character, dedication and fairness. David Hamilton is the type of lawyer and the type of person one wants to see on the Federal bench. His colleagues on the Southern District of Indiana bench, a talented and exceptionally collegial group from both parties, unanimously endorse that conclusion.
Allow me to close with a few further thoughts. Members may recall, when I introduced now Chief Justice Roberts to this Committee in 2005, my concern that todays Federal judiciary is seen by many as another political branch, with the confirmation process often accompanied by the same over-simplifications and distortions that are disturbing even in campaigns for offices that are in fact political. This phenomenon is most pronounced at the Supreme Court level, and traces to several causes that I will not try to address today. I mention it, however, to underscore my commitment to a different view of judicial nominations, which I believe comports with the proper role of the judiciary in our constitutional framework.
I do not view our Federal courts as the forum for resolving political disputes that the Legislative and Executive Branches cannot, or do not want to, resolve. Our Founders warned, in words quoted in my statement at the time of Chief Justice Roberts nomination, against allowing the pestilential breath of faction [to] poison the fountains of justice, which they knew would stifle the voice both of law and of equity.[a]
This is why I believe our confirmation decisions should not be based on partisan considerations, much less on how we hope or predict a given judicial nominee will vote on particular issues of public moment or controversy. I have instead tried to evaluate judicial candidates on whether they have the requisite intellect, experience, character and temperament that Americans deserve from their judges, and also on whether they indeed appreciate the vital, and yet vitally limited, role of the Federal judiciary faithfully to interpret and apply our laws, rather than seeking to impose their own policy views. I support Judge Hamiltons nomination, and do so enthusiastically, because he is superbly qualified under both sets of criteria.
Finally, permit me to thank my colleague from Indiana on the thoughtful, cooperative, merit-driven attitude that has marked his own approach to recommending prospective judicial nominees from our State. The two most recent examples are his strong support for President Bushs nominations of Judge Tinder for the Seventh Circuit and of Judge William Lawrence for the Southern District of Indiana. I am confident Senator Bayh and I will continue to approach nominations by President Obama in the spirit that brings us before you today.
In my humble opinion I believe that this administration will continue to conduct an all out compaign to alter the constitution to fit liberal needs.
Thanks for commenting Lugar. Reading the press release I now understand Sen. Lugar. The fact that Hamilton is a friend of the family is more important than personal Integrity.
Thanks for commenting Cliff. I agree with your assesment not only is our Consititution is at risk but our way of life.
