January 24, 2010 -- TCKid.com is a non-profit community of third culture kids who support each other in their third culture journey. It has hosted a 2-day online networking event to raise funds for relief efforts in Haiti. The event's goal is to "globalize compassion" and has started yesterday at 1:00 pm ended today at 12:00 am (Pacific Standard Time). The event raised $1285 for Medecins Sans Frontiers, a non-profit organization giving medical services to the people affected by the 7.0 magnitude which struck Haiti on the 12th of January.
TCKid is currently working on involving third culture kids in charitable work in line with the community's partnership with TED.com's Charter for Compassion. Before the event, Brice Royer, the founder of TCKid said, "This event attracts compassionate cross cultural people from all over the world. This isn't just about Haiti, it's about you as a human being. I believe Third Culture Kids have a role in globalizing compassion. We will discover just what they can do as a community."
To all the third culture kids who donated: You have made a difference in people's lives. Thank you!
