For many years, Mickey shaped waffles have been a big draw at Walt Disney World, and characters breakfasts have brought the characters right to the table of delighted guests. Now the famous Mouse and his friends can join you in your DVC resort kitchen, or even right at home, through the magic of a new product: Disney brand eggs:

Yes, this may seem like an odd sort of synergy, but recently Disney lent its name and the likenesses of Mickey and several other characters to a brand of eggs produced by vegetarian chickens. I stumbled across them in a local Publix that is only a mile or two from Disney World, but apparently they're available across the country. As you can see below, each eggshell is meticulously stamped with a familiar Disney or Pixar character, like Buzz, Woody, Tigger, Ariel, or Cinderella:

Below is a close-up so you can see the detail:

In my shock at seeing the latest Disney merchandising effort, I did some research on the internet and found a commercial for the eggs on YouTube. They are shown cooking and being shaped into a perfect little Mickey head with a special tool. The almost too-perfect results are shown below:

As near as I could tell, the tool does not come with the eggs, so I can just picture disgruntled youngsters badgering Mom and Dad, "That's not what it looked like in the commercial! Why don't my Disney eggs look like Mickey?" Still, it will be interesting to see if colorful packaging and stamped-on characters will increase kids' egg consumption or if they will still opt for surgary cereals.
I just had to blog about Disney eggs in a bit more depth, which you can read by clicking here to go to my personal blog. In the meantime, enjoy the YouTube commecial, which you can find below:
Will they be serving little egg-shaped Mickeys to accompany those famous waffles and to join the ranks of other Mouse-related snacks like Mickey ice cream bars and Rice Krispy treats? You never know!
