Take your favorite 'B' movie, add a side of 'Brazil' and you get Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's 'Boom.'
The Know Theatre began its production of 'Boom' last night to a somewhat stunned audience. If you are a 'B' movie fan, then you will love this show. Like a 'B' movie, it is bizarre, twisted, and sometimes crazy. In many parts, I was unsure whether or not to laugh; I dealt with that uncertainty by laughing loudly and the show turned out to be a lot of fun.
Similar to 'Brazil,' the story is dark and pushes the boundaries of the believable so that I was never entirely sure what I was watching. As I do not want to give too much of the story away, I will leave the description at that.
As Director Drew Fracher told me last night, "If you can't laugh at a comedy about the Apocalypse, then I think we're all in a lot of trouble."
So if you enjoy 'B' movies and the movie 'Brazil', if you prepare yourself for a bizarre journey, and if you are ready to see a show unlike any you have seen before, then 'Boom' is the show to see. It is crazy, weird, and off center. It is unlike anything you have seen before. And if you want to know more about it, then you will just have to see the show.
