The Who to play the Super Bowl

The Who

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, the Who will be playing the halftime show at the upcoming Super Bowl in Miami.

This show will kick off, what should be a big year for the Who.  A new album and a subsequent tour are in the works.

According to the Rolling Stone article in an e-mail from Pete Townshend, Townshend confirmed that he is currently recording demos and plans on having Roger Daltrey, fresh off his current tour, in the studio in January to start recording the Who's next album tentatively titled Floss

Townshend was quoted as saying that he was very happy with his progress as this project is very ambitious in the style of Tommy and Quadrophenia.

In the e-mail, Townshend squashed rumors that this would be the Who's last tour and album. He confirmed that they were far from over and that "there is no farewell tour planned for 2010". He further stated that "I love playing with this band (which he calls Who 2), and have had some of my best moments onstage with Roger in the last four years."

This of course is all good news as all Who fans have something to look forward to starting with the Super Bowl in Miami.
