The ladies of The View are defending the decision of Carnival cruise lines to continuing taking party boats of tourists down to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti just one week after the worst earthquake in Haiti's history leveled the entire country.
The Carnival cruise line trips to Haiti were one of the "Hot Topics" debated by The View battle-axes on Tuesday morning's episode.
"It's a really weird thing to like be celebrating when horrible things are happening down the block," said co-host Joy Behar. "But it has to be, I guess. Life goes on."
Sherri Shepherd said it's an economic benefit: "It's a hard thing because if they were not to go to their private resort and go somewhere else, there's 230 employees over there who are Haitian who would not have any sort of livelihood." Shepherd also pointed out that Carnival was bringing 40-80 pallets of food and supplies to Haitians in need.
Whoopi Goldberg added a bizarre assessment during which she seemed to be trying to say that Americans have a sick obsession with looking at the negative side of things.
"There's just something in us where the worse it looks, the better people seem to feel."

Im glad they took food to Haiti.
Are you deaf? Not Carnival Cruise Ships... Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (their biggest competitor). Try watching the clip again.
And they're not going to ravaged Port-Au-Prince, but to Labadee (60 miles north and largely unaffected).
But please, keep making things up as you go along...
I'm sure the people going booked their trips ages ago.
Do you know of a good ointment to use on my raging hemorrhoids?
Got something to say?
