Adam Lambert tells Walters coming out to public was 'a relief'

The View gave a preview of Adam Lambert's interview with Barbara Walters for Wednesday night's 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 special. Adam Lambert told Barbara Walters that his coming out on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine last year was an easy decision.

"It was a relief. I've never been in the closet except for when I was a child and a teenager.  I mean, I've been open about my sexuality since I've been an adult, so it was just a real relief to be open with the public at that point."

Adam Lambert will appear on The View on Thursday morning, but his performance will be taped.  ABC producers have stated that Adam Lambert will not perform live because of a scheduling conflict that the American Idol runner up has with a Larry King appearance.  Last week, though, Barbara Walters said that Adam Lambert wouldn't be performing live on The View because ABC executives were afraid of what he might do after his wild card performance at the American Music Awards.

Check back with The View Examiner all week long for updates on the Adam Lambert appearance.

I know what is up with ABC and their homophobia? As if Adam Lambert was this guy who couldn't be relied upon to perform. He did one risque performance and every conservative acts like they have never even heard of fellatio. Whatever, get over it. The guy was hand picked to sing the National Anthem at the America's Democratic Legacy Award Dinner. That is the Anti-Defamation Leagues highest honor and it is going to Steven Spielberg this year. So ABC needs to get over this fear. They are loosing out in their reputation. Adam Lambert is one class act and a fantastic singer.

Adam Lambert is really busy that is why he is being taped on ABC, not because of ABC saying he has to be. He is going on the Larry King show so he can't be at ABC for the airing. I think he then goes to co-host the Y100 Jingle Ball with Gossip girl herself Ms. Leighton. That should be pretty good. Look at everything Adam is doing his schedule is full and ABC is still trying to scream we are scared of the big bad gay man. ABC looks ridiculous. I hope FOX and CBS and NBC bag Adam Lambert's performances up and ABC drops in ratings and revenue.

Adam is going to sing on "So you think you can dance" it is tv dance off show on Fox. I don't watch it but was thinking about the music video he did on his single, "For Your Entertainment" and it would be neat meeting some future dancers who could be on his videos. Does Randy Jackson produce this show or is that another dance show? Like this guy's cd. It needs more air time.

Adam is busy busy busy all week. He simply can't be in two places at once, but Walter's answer makes it more enticing to watch the show. I applaud Adam for his courage and honesty to be true to himself and not put forth an image that is not authentic. (hello, tiger woods.) Do you know what it is like to be thought gay? Adam has had years, years.of dealing with whatever the View migtt say.

ABC execs need to get over themselves. They are looking like a bunch of fundamentalist-appeasement monkeys.

As if he would give a risque performance in any context but the already risque AMAs. Duh. He knows exactly what he is doing, is as professional as they come, and has crazy devoted fans who will watch any show he is on even without this media baiting. Can't wait to see him on the VIEW. Those ladies are probably all Glamberts, or will be by the end of their interview with Adam!

ABC....you are now cutting off your nose to spite your face. It's going beyond ridiculous...put it behind you and stop treating Adam as if he is 2 years old. You've taken this way too far.

Adam sure is fascinating but not because he is gay. This is getting tiring--how can he stand it?

It's as if no one in the world has ever been gay before! It's not that earth shattering so, what is the big deal?

The real deal is Lambert's voice which gets overshadowed by mindless twits who write endless columns about him being gay. It's so high school these days in the media.

I admire Adam for keeping his cool with such grace under fire and with his killer smile.

Poor guy has to deal with people focusing on his sexuality, and his music is AMAZING! If you wanna focus on the music, head over to The Glambert Rock. Great place to discuss Adam the man and Adam the musician.

All these articles in The Examiner about Adam are getting ridiculous. Seriously people can you focus on Adam's music instead of repeating yourselves over and over again.

I am very disappointed in the way ABC has handled this. Adam is so talented that this won't hurt him, however, the double standard is rediculous. Adam has done a great job handling this.

Where ADAM goes, highest ratings follows. Networks and advertisers will know that the soonest.
