Adam Lambert is feeling the backlash over his controversial performance
The ladies of
The View dove right back into the controversy over Adam Lambert's performance at the AMA's during Wednesday morning's 'Hot Topics' segment.
The View matriach
Barbara Walters interviewed
Adam Lambert on Tuesday as part of her '10 Most Fascinating People of 2009' series, and asked the
American Idol star turned scandalmaker-of-the-month how he was coping with all of the controversy.
Barbara Walters explained:
"The reason that GMA canceled was that he was going to do a performance, and ABC thought 'maybe not, this might not be exactly the right time, but we interviewed him just yesterday because he's one of our '10 Most Fascinating People of The Year.'"
So what did Barbara Walters think when she met the man Elisabeth Hasselbeck referred to as 'sexually aggressive' face-to-face?
"First of all I liked him," said Walters. "He's very likeable. He wasn't at all upset. He said that he just got carried away. He said that he's a very sexual person. He had not rehearsed this. And then he said 'You know there's a double standard. If Madonna had done this and you know people would not have been so upset, after all she kissed another woman on television.'"
He said: "You know. I got carried away."
Sherri Shepherd chimed in that Adam Lambert hasn't yet scored a high enough status in the popular music echelon to compare himself to stars like Madonna, or Janet Jackson with her Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction.
Although
Adam Lambert was booted from ABC's scheduled performance on
Good Morning America, he was scooped up by
The Early Show on CBS, and will perform on
Late Night with David Letterman on Wednesday night.

I've seen Adam up close many times now & the one thing that Adam definitely is not is "sexually aggressive"!!!!! Sexually appealing? Definitely! Innately sensual? MOST definitely. Hasselbeck must be suffering from confusion between Adam's performance persona & his natural one. Could it be that she too feels his attraction and labels it agressive? Adam is kind, sweet, funny, articulate & gentle with a beautiful smile on his face most of the time. As for not having the status of some of the other stars mentioned above, have you checked where Adam's album stands on Amazon in Rock? Above Madonna, Rihanna, John Mayer, Sting, even Lady GaGa at the moment. Adam IS already a star & major talent. Who do you think all those extra millions of people tuned in to see on Sunday night? Adam. I've never watched that show in my life but I watched it just for Adam and was not disappointed. ABC screwed up when they cancelled him... Yeah CBS! Adam's a "Surefire Winner"!
Adam Lambert kissed at guy at 11 p.m. on ABC. That show was replacing ABC's Brothers and Sisters - every week guys kiss each other on that show between 10 and 11 p.m. How can they justify keeping Adam off their station?
Don't they even watch their own shows?
Sorry Sherri Shepherd, Adam doesn't need to be in the same stratosphere as Madonna or Janet to be compared. Unlike you who's not on any level.
Anyone that has paid attention should know by now that Adam is a performer. If he's singing a sexy song like Ring of Fire on American Idol or For Your Entertainment he's going to bring on the sexy. If you haven't paid attention, the rest of the songs he has on his album are far less sexual. Can't wait to see the many sides of Adam as he reveals himself and entertains us!
This essay make some great points (and it's very funny too):

Any of you that love music should value artistic expression whether you love the artist or not. You gotta realize that they treated Elvis, the Beatles, The Doors, Bowie and even Madonna with disdain when their careers first began. This is a BS issue and the nutty over reaction just means it is time to break down some barriers and let in new artistic expression - let Freedom Reign!!!
Does anyone but me remember the awards program in the late 90's when Madonna was dressed in some Victorian garb and took a man's head right to her crotch? How is that different? Also did anyone notice that CBS (love them for having Adam on!!) but they showed the film of Madonna kissing Brittney and Christina but then blurred out the kiss Adam laid on his bass player on the AMAs. That shows that this is about a total double standard folks and that very discrimination is being used to blow this out of proportion. Adam's album is Fantastic by the way.
