ABC will air gay sex, but not Adam Lambert (video)

Adam Lambert has been banned from live television at any hour of the day on ABC.

But the network can now legitimately use the argument that their refusal to air live performances of Adam Lambert was not "a gay thing". The iconic ABC soap opera One Life to Live aired the first gay sex scene on network daytime television history on Wednesday. One Life to Live characters Oliver and Kyle shared a classic soap opera sex scene replete with champagne, candlelight and a dreamy love song.

Adam Lambert's season of censorship started after his controversial performance at the American Music Awards where he engaged in unscheduled display of simulated oral sex, simulated back-up dancer fingering and real male-on-male kissing during his performance of 'For Your Entertainment'. ABC executives refused to allow The View to rebroadcast portions of Adam Lambert's performance during their "Hot Topics" segment calling the performance "inappropriate for daytime television".

So if ABC isn't afraid to show gay men being sexual, why the wave of Adam Lambert cancellations on ABC programs at all hours of the day? Adam Lambert was yanked from scheduled performances on Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and was forced to pre-tape his The View performance.

It could be that ABC is dealing with backlash from gay rights advocates and Adam Lambert fans infuriated by the Adam Lambert live performance lock-out. The View fans will have to wait until the coven returns from holiday break in the new year to hear what the ladies think about their network's double standard.

Not a view topic and you know the video doesn't follow what thye print and they'll remove it like they have others of yours and even some of your full articles! Maybe your new years resolution should be to stay on topic and use the proper pictures and videos so the whole site doesn't suffer!

No ABC cannot legitimately use the arguement that refusal to air Adam Lambert after the AMAs, particularly when he has been live everywhere else and been spectacular (as well as 'non-threatening'), is not a gay thing. This soap occurred well after the fact and smacks of a quick attempt to do exactly what you imply "Oh no, we're not anti-gay, not at all -seee??" It is another cowardly backtracking BS move by ABC, and an attempt to placate GLAAD and Lambert fans who continue to boycott ABC becaue of their thinly veiled homophobic knee jerk reaction to Adam. THey have done their best to try to ruin him, and since it is not working they are trying to justify banning him - although I have yet to hear exactly what their supposed issue with him is. It cannot be to protect the children when the soap aired during the day, during school vacation time.

This follows your series of lambert investigations that certainly does fit into the purview of the View. And the video does indeed follow THYE print (whatever that means). And they will not remove. Does Duhh keep some sort of tally of your articles? What a creep!

The OLTL "gay sex scene" was a total farce. It barely showed any real kissing or anything else. Just a couple of little pecks before fading. Not at all comparable to what we have seen on OLTL between Chris and Layla just a couple of weeks ago. This does not at all make me feel any better about what has and continues to be done to Adam Lambert by the homophobic Disney/ABC and I will continue to boycott Disney and any ABC programming that Adam is not on.

Seriously!!! WTH. ABC bans Adam for inappropriate content, during nighttime broadcast tv. Yet shows THIS during afternoon broadcast tv, for all the kiddies out of school on holiday. This was not considered inappropriate why - because it was a quiet, romantic setting? Again, WTH! Would love to hear an explanation on this one.
Would also love a public apology to Adam. For all you people who had a fit about Adam's AMA performance, are you disgusted/outraged by OLTL on ABC? Hypocrites! Are the same people/group that put the pressure on to remove Adam going to get OLTL banned. As if that's going to happen. So why the personal vendetta against Adam? Did he turn someone in high places at ABC down. Really, none of this makes sense.

Obviously the timing of the scene has alot to do with the blacklisting, and bigotry Adam has had to endure since the AMA's. Adam gave a spectacular show at Gridlock for New Years Eve, and we were robbed of it. I will never watch ShameOnYouABC until they have Adam back on to perform live. I'm just wondering why in your little poll up above that you would include as a choice 'Adam's gay'. How ignorant! It appears that you included that as a choice so people could somehow make fun of Adam. I think you suck as a 'reporter', and I use that term loosely.

Soap scenes are filmed a good 2 months before they air. There's a coincidence here, not a plot.

this shoudl have been banned from TV, this was definetly in prime time, school is out and children watch, Adam did nothing like this, as for fingering the girl, from what I can tell he was pulling on the leather strap, the oral sex scene was so fast you really had to rewind to see it and the kiss was steamy. I have never heard anything about the GIRL who played with Adam's crotch, that apparently was okay but what ADam did was not?

I think Adam Lambert is crazy talented, and all the baloney in the past month has nothing to do with that. I will watch whatever program he is on and I will certainly be there when he tours, very excited to see what he will do when the shackles are off. I think this write-up has NOTHING to do with what Adam is doing now. Update yourself and move on, Liz!

ABC is trying to cover their azz. They know they are subject to a significant law suit for depriving Adam Lambert of his livelihood. When you cancel performances that presumably been contracted, you are liable for damanges suffered. I think without a doubt Adam has incured financial damage from ABC's action. They openly promoted his AMA performance with suggestions of raciness and daring. Yet, they were quick to condemn over only a relatively few complains. ABC should be sued. They should not be allowed to continue their discriminatory behavior. Televising this sexual scene between two males is a pathetic attempt on their part to reduce their liability. Adam fans---continue your boycott of ABC and products they advertise. It's about the money, and the only way to impact thie horrible network is to not support the advertisers. ABC, you should be ashamed.

This whole conspiracy against Adam should stop. I was thinking about starting a storm of complains against ABC (i.e. sending a storm of complaints to ABC site, section contact us. Anyways, I think will be good for them to know that ADAM is what we appreciate, respect and want to see.

We should let them know that we are aware of their unfair games against Adam and that we are very upset about it.

Your info isn't exactly accurate at all-here is some info: There were only 1500 complaints out of 48,000,000 viewers. Adam's performance was in the FCC'safe harbor" time from 10:00PM-6:00AM when FCC with approval of the courts determined the risk of children in the audience was small. But, although his performance aired at 10:53PM, some states in Central Time Zone aired it at 9:53PM, otherwise there would be no problem.Temporary caution ABC

I saw the soap opera that day and couldn't believe ABC was letting the soap get away with it - it was something else. I couldn't believe my eyes and then they had the nerve to backlash on Adam whose AMA was nothing compared to the soap opera. I think ABC is really stupied!!!! and screwy!!!

    LOVE ADAM!

There are some things that are inappropriate on television that children are able to see. As a parent you try to censor things that you don't think that they should watch. I have absolutely no problem with Adam being gay. I think that he was robbed on American Idol and am a fan. You don't do crotch moves (male to female, male to male, female to female) like he did on a show like that. What Janet Jackson did was bad and so was what Adam did. For those think that ABC was wrong to ban him need to get a grip. People are banned all the time for doing things like this, because they might do it again and for being punished. If you didn't think that Adam expected some type of negative reaction from ABC you have to living under a rock.

OOOOHHHH HELL NO!!!! And abc & fcc is saying what ADAM did was raunchy and distastful, what a bunch of hypocrites. There is no way that they are blaming ADAM after showing something like that on DAYTIME television. It does not even compare, that was just part of a harmless performance. But you know what it is a new year ADAM has moved on from this Ignorant bulls#@t so should we. It's 2010 and it is going to be Adam's year.Adam keep doing what you doing, your TRUE FANS are here and support you 100% in everything you do. You are here to stay. And become the Biggest and Brightest Star in this Decade. We all need someone like ADAM LAMBERT IN OUR LIVES. SHAKE IT ALL UP ADAM WE LOVE YOU:0)

I have boycotted ABc since Adam was yanked from NYE and I will continue todo so. No ABC in my household. I sent them a message before just after he was barred from the GMA show. I'm sending another note to let them know homw I enjoyed NOT watching their stupid New Years eve show and their hypocrytical ways. I chose to go online and chat with other Adam fans on new years eve, and waited to see streams of his Gridlock show, which in my opinion was a much better venue for Adam. He would have been treated like cr*p if he had done the ABC New Years eve show. At Gridlock he was the star of the show.

ABC aired an show with J-Lo(nothing against her, used to be a favorite of mine) simulating oral sex. But I can't even surf the internet to locate the picture.
Yeah.. No double standard. Girl's blow job is def not worth noting. Yes, make a huge fuss over Adam Lambert.
He is talented. And this double standard is worth us fighting on.

I am so over ABC's double standard it has me boiling mad. Adam is a gift to music lovers and ABC is standing in the way of letting us enjoy him. I wasn't crazy about the AMA show but I understand his motivation. If I can move on ABC should be able to also. I am at a point I may have to ban ABC from my home, it's time everyone took a stand that really believes this treatment is just wrong.

ABC is not covering that scene on OLTL was approved and shoot weeks before Addam's apperance on the awards where he rubbed someone in his crotch which ABC did not approve

Its Adam's fault no one elses. OLTL films two montrhs ahead of airing so ABC was not covering their asses. This love scene was planned way before

How bout do some research before condeming a network oh wait a minute that may take too much thought and consideration
