The hit show, “I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here”, returns, this time to the jungle of Costa Rica with a new cast of celebs to embarrass themselves by competing against each other for the spotlight. Our favorite “Hills” newlyweds, Hedi and Spencer Pratt, set up camp along with ex-supermodel, Janice Dickinson, retired basketball player, John Salley, American Idol reject, Sanjaya Malakar, wife of former Illinois governor, Rod Blagovich, Patti Blagovich, Baldwin brother, Stephen Baldwin, professional wrestler, Torrie Wilson, and comedy duo, Frangla, members, Frances Callier and Anglea V. Shelton. Strangely, Lou Diamond Phillips, a real actor and actual celebrity (although way beyond his A-list years) joins the cast in a weird twist that makes the world wonder how he must have ruined his finances enough to warrant a spot on this show.
Spedi fans don't have to wait long for the drama to unfold. Within the first twenty minutes the camp is filled with laughter at the couple's expense, as Torrie makes fun of Hedi's dry shampoo behind the duo's backs. Thinking that Hedi and Spencer had taken off forever, the remaining campers divvy up their left-behind possessions, but aren't comfy for long. When the dynamic duo return from their trip all hell breaks loose in the camp as Spencer gets in the faces of one of the members of Frangla, slapping the canteen out of her hand in an eruption of anger. Not to be outdone by Torrie, Spencer waits for her to leave camp and hides her things in the jungle, despite the pleas from his wife to stop. In typical Spencey fashion, however, he returns later that night with an apology which his cast mates apparently ate up.
This show really is for anyone who can't get enough of Spencer and Hedi now that “The Hills” is on hiatus. If you hated him before, now is your chance to hate him even more. Even when he is trying to be sincere his condescending attitude is dominant in all things.
One of the most interesting developments, however, is the newfound religion of the couple notorious for their deceptive ways. On more than one occasion you can hear Hedi praising Jesus and even praying over Patti Blagovich's future? When did this happen? Who knew that Spedi had sprouted halo's since their wedding.
Check out the new show, which airs from June 1-18th, every Monday through Thursday at 8:00 PM EST on NBC, and at the same time Mondays through Wednesdays, June 22-24.
