Spedi fans were horrified this weekend when Stephanie Pratt's twitter feed broke the news of Hedi's hospitalization after having been isolated for 24 hours in a dark room filled with all kind of creepy crawly creatures. This was to be Spencer and Heidi's penance for their repeated quitting offenses on reality show “I'm a Celebrity... Get me Out of Here”. Although little sister Stephanie's twitter claimed the couple had been “locked in a dark room for 3 days w[ith] no food or water” these reports were refuted immediately. A source told Us Magazine, There was no danger, no life-threatening situations -- in fact, they were actually protected from the elements, unlike the other contestants," the source adds. "When they came out, they were happy and in good spirits." In fact, in a statement to UsMagazine from the studio producing the series, ITV Studios, "ITV has been producing this format around the world for many years and the health of the celebrity participants are of the utmost importance," and a medic and doctor have been present during filming at all times.
Executive Vice President of Alternative Media for NBC, Paul Telegdy, has not been pleased with the performance Spedi has given on the show, telling Access Hollywood in a statement, ““They are everything that’s wrong with America”. After calling the couple “insincere, lazy, entitled”, Telegdy told Access Hollywood that Hedi and Spencer's bid to return to the show will not be an easy journey and that “These people really are going to bare their souls. “
Telegedy wasn't the only one displeased by privateered pair's antics, Spencer's charity on the show, The Red Cross, asked that their name be removed from “I'm a Celebrity...Get me Out of Here”'s website, after America's favorite brat quit the show. The show is in talks with Life Rolls On, a spinal tap injury charity, to be Spencer's new charity, should he be voted back on the show.
Pratt was released from the Costa Rican hospital on Sunday. Details about their scary night, and the vote on whether they will be allowed back on the show, will be aired tonight.
Note: Life Rolls on is not a "spinal tap injury charity" as I referred to it in this article. According to Kris S. Nakamura, the Executive Director and CEO of the Life Rolls on Foundation, "It is dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cordinjury (SCI). Life Rolls On assists and inspires young people affected by SCI through action sports, impacting the lives of more than 100,000people each year. There are more than one million people who have sustained a spinal cord injury in the United States and every 49 minutes, another spinal cord injury in America occurs." My apologies for treating your charity so casually. Should anyone want any more information on this charity or would like to donate please click here. Thank you for correcting me Mr. Nakamura.
