'The Bachelor' highlight: Ali calls Jake to beg for a second chance (episode seven)

Ali called Jake to beg for a second chance on episode seven of "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love" (Feb. 15, 2010). The phone call didn't pan out as she had hoped and left her even more heartbroken than before she called.

About 10 minutes in to episode seven, viewers were visited by Ali. ABC showed her in tears in bed with two pictures of Jake next to her bed. The whole thing seemed like a huge set up, but Ali's feelings seemed strong and genuine.

Ali told viewers she had chosen her job over Jake because she was scared. She said work has always been a safe place for her, but she hasn't been able to eat, sleep or focus on work since she left Jake.

"I'm going to tell him how I feel, and hopefully he feels the same," she said.

Fast forward 60 minutes TV time, and Jake was ready and excited to tell two women they are going to meet his family. Unfortunately, there was a little hiccup in his plan. Ali called.

She told Jake she was a mess. She said she made the wrong choice, and she wanted to come back. She said she didn't want her fears and her mistake to keep them from ever knowing if they were meant for one another. Jake told Ali she drove away with a piece of his heart that night. At that moment, he didn't know what to do.

Ali begged and pleaded and apologized over and over again, but Jake couldn't get past the shock. Ali needed that second chance, though, and she told him she didn't care if he sent her away again. She wanted another chance.

Jake told her he felt like he was further along with the other three women because he had had to put his feelings aside to move on. He said it wasn't a good idea if she flew to St. Lucia, which shocked her.

"I will forever regret this decision," Ali said before hanging up the phone.
