The Presidential Obamarita.
President Obama and family are on vacation in Martha's Vineyward; and we all know he wants to be left alone, but it's difficult to simply ignore a head of state.
When Sharky's Cantina, a nearby Mexican restaurant chain, heard about Obama and his family vactioning in Martha's Vineyard, they reinstated their own Obama-inspired margarita - The Obamarita - a concoction of Sauza gold tequila, freshly crushed mandarin oranges, fresh lemon and lime sour mix, triple sec, and a splash of pineapple juice - to represent the President's birthplace in Hawaii.
You can find the Sharky's recipe here, but below is an alternate recipe for an Obamarita. It's tasty - and definitely fit for the U.S. President and his family.
Obamarita
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz Sauza Gold tequila
- 3 tablespoons canned mandarin oranges
- 1 oz lemon and lime juices
- 3/4 oz triple sec
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
- splash of 100% pineapple juice
Directions
- Add mandarin oranges into a cocktail shaker. Muddle the oranges until they are pureed.
- Add the remaining ingredients into the cocktail shaker and fill half-way with ice.
- Shake and strain into a martini or margarita glass.
- Garnish with an orange slice.
