Jonas Brothers fans in South Florida have two chances to win tickets to their concert in Fort Lauderdale thanks to fund raising activities by JDRF.
As the Jonas Brothers Examiner reports, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) is organizing two different activities, a raffle drawing and an auction, to give fans the chance to win tickets for the Grammy nominated band's concert at the Bank Atlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale on August 19th.
Fans can either enter the raffle drawing at JDRF for $20 dollars and wait until August 17th at 11am EST, when three pairs of tickets will be drawn, or bid on an auction at radio station Wild 95.5, which starts on August 3rd and ends on August 14th, in order to win four tickets.
All funds will go to the JDRF, organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding research on juvenile diabetes, a disease which Nick Jonas has. Recently, the young musician and television star in the Disney Channel show Jonas, which he shares with his brothers Joe and Kevin Jonas, testified for JDRF at a Senate hearing on the need for federal funding for Type 1 Diabetes research. He said, "While technology has made it much easier for me to manage my diabetes, technology is not a cure. Insulin is not a cure. Like everyone here today, I know that the promise of a cure lies only in research," adding, "I ask that each of you join me in supporting the renewal of the Special Diabetes Program next year so that the researchers can continue their work on a cure for our disease. My life depends on it. All our lives depend on it." Nick Jonas, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 13, also stated, "Diabetes has changed my life," adding, "But I know I've benefited from the government's investment in diabetes research. With the help of Congress, I'll only have to wait a little bit longer for the cure."
It is inspiring to see someone as young as Nick Jonas using his celebrity for causes like Type 1 Diabetes research. His speaking out will certainly raise awareness on the need for research to find a cure for the disease. Donations to this cause can be made to JDRF.
