Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, both Disney Channel stars in the shows Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place, respectively, are making headlines.
The news are musical for Miley Cyrus, star of Hannah Montana. VH1 recently announced the new lineup for their VH1 Divas television special, which stayed away from the small screen for four years. The new singing divas are Leona Lewis, Adele, Kelly Clarkson and, yes, Miley Cyrus.
After seeing the likes of Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Carole King, Gloria Estefan and even Aretha Franklin on the show, many are surprised and a bit put off by this year's chosen voices.
According to the New York Daily News, Lee Rolontz, senior vice president of original music production and development at VH1 and VH1 Classic says, "Don't let some of their young ages fool you – these women are among the best entertainers in the world and will continue to thrill music fans for a long time to come," adding that the singers "have all captured the world's attention with their talent and have earned their designation as VH1 Divas this year." In any case, viewers and fans are invited to share their opinions on this year's divas, and their own "diva stories," on the show's website. Visitors are encouraged to visit the site often to find out which other singers will also appear in the special.
The VH1 Divas' live televised concert will happen at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Howard Gilman Opera House on Sept. 17 at 9 pm, with all proceeds going to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.
Miley Cyrus can certainly consider this yet another achievement in her incredibly succesful music career.

Miley is actually really amazing, so is Selena. Why does everyone think Selena's a nobody? She worked on her career on her OWN, and no offence one Miley, but she got the extra 30-40% to becoming famous, but Miley's still amazaing! Gosh, I wish I'll be like both of them when I'm older!
i_love_to_sing/dance/act miley actually work on her own for her career,but selena become famous after her appearance in bruning up by jb,bff with demi lovato, dating nick jonas before she even got her own hit 'wizards of waverly place the movie' okay? and so do,princee protection program. she even sing badly. how that make her working hard and very 'talented'?
