Slideshow: Snooki goes to jail, released after Jersey Shore premiere (video, photos)
Snooki was arrested and spent some time in jail, but was released several hours later. Though an official statement has not been released, TMZ reports that Snooki, whose given name is Nicole Polizzi, was arrested for disorderly conduct after becoming intoxicated at Seaside Heights. The Jersey Shore star is not facing any charges related to alcohol because there was no drinking and driving involved, reports Radar Online.

Jersey Shore started its second season on July 29, 2010 and airs on MTV. Though the show features a number of ‘Italian Americans from New Jersey’ only one cast member is actually from New Jersey.
Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola is from New Jersey, Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVechhio is from Rhode Island, and the remaining cast members are from New York.
