From waking up Arizona to waking up America, KPNX's Tram Mai will hit the national stage in August.
The 12News morning anchor earned a date to co-host "Live! with Regis and Kelly" on August 20th. The long-running morning show held a contest in July to have viewers nominate their favorite local news personality to fill in for either Regis Philbin or Kelly Ripa. Mai made the first cut down to 20 contenders and this week kicked her campaign into high gear. She and her 12News colleages Twittered, Facebooked and shouted-out on air- urging fans, friends and family to vote Mai into Ripa's chair for a day. The effort worked.
"I TRULY BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA," she Tweeted-- the capital letters emphasizing her excitement after learning the result. "THERE'S NO WAY I COULD'VE MADE IT W/OUT IT!"
Mai will be the fourth of five female broadcasters to sit beside Regis Philbin in the “From Local to LIVE Co-Host for a Day” contest.
