Mercy, a new hospital drama premiering this fall on NBC, is unlike the typical medical series. In Mercy, the nurses take center stage. And the show takes place and is filmed in New Jersey.
Mercy stars Taylor Schilling, a newcomer, as nurse Veronica Callahan, back from a tour of Iraq, her marriage is on the rocks and she is living with her alcoholic parents. She is fantastic in the role and one of the main reasons that I will continue to watch Mercy.
The other nurses are played by Jamie Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Guillermo Diaz, whose sweet nurse is diametrically opposed to his character on Weeds. Rounding out the cast at the hospital as the doctors are James Tupper, James LeGros and Delroy Lindo.
Take a sneak peek at this video of Mercy:
I
I previewed Mercy last night at the Paley Center for Media in NYC. It turns out that, Taylor Schilling, the star of Mercy, worked at the Paley Center a few years ago while trying to make it as an actress. Everybody there was very proud of her last night and they have reason to be.
Mercy premieres on NBC on Wednesday, September 23rd, at 8pm. Check it out and watch a hospital medical drama from the nurses point of view.
