Based on the title of the new CBS series "The Good Wife", I was expecting a family drama. However, it turns out to really be more of a legal/courtroom television show with some family drama mixed in. With the exceptional cast put together on "The Good Wife", they could be doing any type of show and I would watch.
Julianna Marglies plays Alicia, a wife and mother, who must go back to work as a defense attorney after her high-profiled husband (Chris Noth) lands in jail due to a scandal of the Eliot Spitzer type. In addition to taking on a job she hasn't done in 13 years, Alicia must deal with the pain and humiliation her husband has brought upon her.
The old friend of Alicia's and law firm partner that hired her is played by Josh Charles, who I have been a big fan of ever since Sports Night. The firm's top litigator and Alicia's somewhat mentor, is played fabulously by the fabulous Christine Baranski. Need I say more about her. Fans of the Gilmore Girls will be very happy to see Matt Czuchry, aka Logan, as Alicia's rival as the firm's new junior associate. Archie Panjabi plays a personal investigator at the firm.
Here is a preview of "The Good Wife" starring Julianna Margulies:
The Good Wife will air on Tuesday nights this fall on CBS at 10pm. The premiere is set for Septemeber 22, 2009. This is a series definitely worth checking out.
