ABC's Castle, starring Nathan Fillion, has been using the summer to promote the series in some very interesting ways. Fillion's character, Richard Castle, a mystery writer, has written a book, Heat Wave, that is being published for the real world and he also is writing about a case on his own twitter page. For a fictional character, he's been very busy.
The Book
Heat Wave, written by Richard Castle (ghost writer), goes on sale on September 29, 2009. This is the Nikki Heat novel that Castle has been working on during the series while trailing Beckett. ABC currently has the first two chapters available for free download on their website. The release of the book will be part of the plot of Castle this season.
The Twitter Page
For anyone still not familar with Twitter, the way it works is that after you sign up for an account, you can chose to follow people that interest you and then you can read everything that they write. Richard Castle's twitter account is WriteRCastle. Here again, it is not Nathan Fillion doing the writing, but it is very entertaining and sanctioned by ABC. He is writing about a mystery and filling us in on all the details. This has been going on for a few weeks now, so you might want too back up to the beginning of his page to get the full story.
Don't forget, Castle returns Monday, September 21st at 10pm. I can only imagine it getting better and better. If you haven't seen it yet, give it a try.
