MSNBC today has an article on Highlands Church in Denver, Colorado, which boasts its acceptance of practicing homosexuals into full fellowship.
Rev. Mark Tidd maintains that 'gay people can embrace their sexual orientation as God-given and seek fulfillment in committed same-sex relationships.'
Amazingly, Tidd says 'Our position is not one of lenience, but a matter of justice....It's not that we don't acknowledge the reality of sin. It's not a sin to be gay or act in accordance with your nature.'
If such is the case and my fallen nature tells me to rob the bank next door, then the gospel according to Rev. Tidd would tell me it isn't wrong!
Of course, in order to maintain his position Tidd must question God's Word. He states 'The Bible, read literally, suggests the earth is flat and could be used to justify slavery.'
Unfortunately, if Tidd had any real knowledge of what Scripture says, he would know that it neither justifies slavery in the sense that we think of it, nor promotes a belief in a flat earth.
For example, with regard to a flat earth, Revelation 7:1 mentions the 'four corners of the earth,' but that refers to the directions, north, south, east and west. The same term is used today by people who clearly don't believe the earth is flat. People today also refer to the sun rising and setting, even though we know it's the earth that is moving. Isaiah 40:21-22 refers to 'the circle of the earth.'
With churches that openly welcome practicing homosexuals into their fellowship, there is little to stop them from progressing to the next step. What about those who would prefer to marry a 10 year old girl, rather than a woman? What about acceptance of polygamy? After all, Solomon had countless wives. There are no limits to what such a church would accept - except, of course, those who hold to correct biblical beliefs.
Jesus held the Old Testament to be God's Word, and both it and the New Testament clearly condemn homosexual behavior.
Lev 18:22-23 'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.'
Lev 20:13 'If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death.'
1 Cor 6:9 'Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals.'
Highlands Church claims on its website that it hold to the Apostle's Creed. Why, then, do they insist on acting in direct contradiction to the Savior they claim to worship?
Alexander Hamilton once said that 'those who will stand for nothing will fall for anything.'
Those who will not stand up for what Scripture clearly teaches, and watch their doctrine closely, will similarly fall for anything. Unfortunately, this is a practice that is becoming all too common in churches today,

You are hateful and detestable in the eyes of Jesus. Take your sinful black heart to Jesus and ask forgiveness for your lies and hatred
jrc: In that case, the Bible itself is hateful and detestable in the eyes of Jesus.
Mr. Hunter is obviously a hypocrite, unless he is obeying all of Liviticus, which I doubt seriously.
Christian bigotry is always disgusting; Hunter is just another religious bigot, hiding his hatred and ignorance behind a Bible.
"A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed."
Deuteronomy 22:13.21
Mr. Hunter, do you advocate the execution of all unmarried non-virgins? I thought not. Your hypocrisy is so blatant, how do you live with yourself?
Whoops: Those knowledgeable about Scripture realize that people in the Old Testament days were under the Law. Since the time of Christ we have been under Grace. The sins are just as serious now as then, and worthy of death - in fact, any sin against God is worthy of death. The difference is, since Christ paid the penalty for our sins, we have the opportunity of obtaining forgiveness for those sins. If we fail to repent, we will pay the eternal consequences. So homosexuality is just as serious now as then - only the immediate penalty has changed.
Imagine being told that you have o date the same sex. You couldn't could you, because that's not who you dream about being with and that's not who makes you feel complete. Well, for us gays, we feel the same way about being with the opposite sex. Please let us be ourselves, and stop judging us. I think you'll see how many God loving gays there really are when we ALL get to heaven. Unfortunately, there are very few churches who see the truth, and Highlands Church is part of that few. God bless Christians who work on themselves, and don't judge others.
