Harold Camping - the end is near, again!

If you're a Christian and have any plans past May 21, 2011, you'd better forget them. That's the day the rapture of the church will take place. However, if you aren't a Christian, good news! You've got another 153 days after that - October 21, 2011 - to enjoy your earthly treasures before it all comes crashing down around you! At least, that's the latest set of dates being given by Harold Camping.

Camping is a radio and television host, as well as the president of Family Stations, Inc., based in California.

This isn't the first time he's predicted the end of the world. In 1992, in a book titled 1994? he predicted that Christ might return on September 6, 1994, basing his predictions on numerology.

In another book, Time Has an End he declared that the church age ended in 1988, forty years after the beginning of the nation of Israel in 1948, and that people should leave the church (Dangerous Airwaves). He also declared that the Great Tribulation also began in 1988.

One wouldn't think that Camping would have much of a following, but there are always those who like to think they have special God-given knowledge of coming events and will follow people like Harold Camping, Kim Clement and other so-called prophets despite their failing track record.
