On Day 4 of the Winter Paralympics in Whistler/Vancouver 2010, Canada won 3 more medals on home soil. The 2 golds were won by Brian McKeever and Lauren Woolstencroft and the bronze medal won by Karolina Wisniewska.
Brian Mckeever is the visually impaired cross country skier that made headlines as he made his attempt to compete in both the Olympics and Paralympics in the same sport and in the same year. The evening before his Olympic competition, The Canadian Olympic Ski Team decide that another skiers with a better time would represent Canada. This was to Brian "..as devastating as when I lost my sight." Instead of wallowing in self pity, Brian went on training for the Paralympics. On Monday, with his brother as his guide, Brian won Canada's first gold medal of the games in the men's 20 km visually impaired race. Brian is also competing in 3 more races.
Later in the day Lauren Woolstencroft and Karolina Wisniewska won the gold and silver in the same race, the women's slalom-standing. Both ladies are competing in 4 more races.
The Canadian wheelchair curling team won versus Japan 13-2 but lost to Sweden 8-4.
