Seattle teen issues: January 27-29

There's big, bad and good news for Seattle teens in search of entertainment this weekend.  The biggest news is that The Whitest Kids U' Know, the comedy troupe with a television show on the Independent Film Channel, will be playing at The Vera Project, the all-ages club and art venue at the Seattle Center. The doors open at 7:30 pm and the show starts at 8 pm. Ticket cost is $18. The bad news is that tickets for the show are already sold out. The good news is about 50 tickets will be sold at the door on the night of the show, so arrive early to get in.

If you show up early and still don't manage to secure tickets, you have other options for entertainment on the grounds of the Seattle Center, particularly if you have a Teen Tix membership. Teen Tix offers area teens aged 13 to 19 the ability to purchase tickets to arts and culture events all over the region for $5 each, which is usually a substantial savings over regular priced tickets. Reading Marathon for Middle Schoolers at Seattle Public Library branches.
Head to a local library branch for the annual Reading Marathon. You'll be competing for the honor of your school by recording the minutes you spend reading. Your scores will be added to others' and one school will win a Grand Prize. The libraries offer free pizza and snacks to sweeten the deal. No registration is necessary, just show up to one of the following branches between 11 am and 5 pm on Saturday, Jaunary 28th. Check the website for more details.

Teen Art Studios at Gage Academy of Art
The Gage Academy of Art offers free art programs on Friday and Saturday nights, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, for teens aged 13 to 18. Everything you need is provided, including refreshments, but there is limited space, so get there on time. On Fridays, the drop-in art studio is held on Capitol Hill at the Gage Alhadeff Studio, located at 1501 10th Ave. E. The Saturday night program is located in The 2100 Building in Rainier Valley, at 2100 24th Ave S.
