There's big, bad and good news for Seattle teens in search of entertainment this weekend. The biggest news is that The Whitest Kids U' Know, the comedy troupe with a television show on the Independent Film Channel, will be playing at The Vera Project, the all-ages club and art venue at the Seattle Center. The doors open at 7:30 pm and the show starts at 8 pm. Ticket cost is $18. The bad news is that tickets for the show are already sold out. The good news is about 50 tickets will be sold at the door on the night of the show, so arrive early to get in.
If you show up early and still don't manage to secure tickets, you have other options for entertainment on the grounds of the Seattle Center, particularly if you have a Teen Tix membership. Teen Tix offers area teens aged 13 to 19 the ability to purchase tickets to arts and culture events all over the region for $5 each, which is usually a substantial savings over regular priced tickets. The following are a few of the options this weekend through Teen Tix:
- Nirvana - Taking Punk to the Masses at the EMP Museum - Memorabilia, photographs and more in this tribute to the band.
- Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition at the EMP Museum - Costumes, props, films and more are featured in this exhibit, which includes three full-size spaceships.
- Can't Look Away: The Lure of Horror Film at the EMP Museum - The exhibit on the history of horror includes a Scream Booth, where you can really let go, and props from famous films, such as the axe from The Shining and the alien from Alien.
- The film Norwegian Wood, an adaptation of Haruki Murakami's novel, plays at SIFF Cinema at Uptown, just a couple of blocks from the Seattle Center. The address is 511 Queen Anne Ave. N and there are several showings this weekend, including 6:30 pm on Friday. Check the Teen Tix calendar for all the showtimes.
