Teen Development - Puberty
Young adolescence and puberty can be challenging, both for parents and for teenagers. It is a time of extreme change – young adolescents experience growth and changes like they haven’t experienced since they were babies.
Understanding what is happening at roughly what age can help teens and parents recognize what is normal and what is not. Knowing what the goals and challenges are can also help teenagers to not feel like they are different. Everyone is going through the same changes. But it doesn’t always feel like that when you’re in the middle of it.
Please keep in mind that these ages are general guidelines. Some teenagers develop more quickly than others. So if you haven’t developed in certain ways yet, but you’ve reached or surpassed the age listed, don’t worry. You’ll catch up.
