Physical changes during puberty -
including Acne
Preteens can expect an increase in sweating and the onset of body odor through young adolescence. Acne may begin to develop as a result of increased sweating and clogged pores. Also, preteens will experience the onset of a growth spurt.
Preteen Girls
Onset of growth spurt will occur around the age of 10 – 11. Girls can expect initial breast development and the beginning of menarche (getting your period). The general age range for getting your period is wide – from 9 to 17 years of age. Preteen girls will also begin to develop underarm and pubic hair.
Preteen Boys
Onset of growth spurt will be slightly later than for girls – around 11 – 12 years. Boys will experience a growth in testes and their penis, and will develop pubic and underarm hair.
