Offer to drive your teenager and her friends to the party.
By driving kids to the party, you have a convenient excuse to go inside and check things out. Who knows, you might even get invited in and end up staying for much of the party.
If you are not going to be the one driving, make sure you clarify the transportation plans, including when your teenager will be home.
Hold your teen accountable if rules are broken.
Review the rules before your teen goes out this Halloween. Review the consequences as well. Preferably, your teenager will tell you what the rules are and what the consequences are for breaking the rules. Don’t forget to let your teenager know that you will always come pick him up when he calls, no questions asked. Make sure you stick to your rules. If your teenager breaks a rule, then consequences must be given. If your teenager calls to ask you to pick him up, don’t ask him any questions. Just do it.
Then go and have a safe and happy Halloween!
