Goggles search results, google.com
Today Google introduced a service called Google Goggles. This new augmented reality application enables users to use pictures to search the web. For instance, instead of typing in the name of a restaurant, you would use your cell phone to snap a photo of the storefront. Google goggles would then analyze that photo and return relevant search results.
This new Google labs app is in very early beta stages, but according to some hands on reports, appears to be functional. Currently there are a handful of augmented reality applications for Android devices and the iPhone, but this is the first to harness the power of Google’s massive databases and brilliant software engineers.
Expect this to be a game changing application for the Android. iPhone users, you are out of luck - this service is currently only available for the Android platform.
