CyberWeek begins today at Walmart. Instead of one day of sales, they will offer specials throughout the week. Leave it to Walmart to outdo the competition, whether it is undercutting prices, offering $299.99 laptops on Black Friday, or stretching a one-day sales event into five.
The current front-page specials posted to Walmart.com include:
Wii value bundle - $249
Sony 32-inch Bravia LCD TV - $398
eMachines laptop bundle - $368
Kodak digital camera with 4GB SD card - $89
iPod Nano with Ematic accessory bundle, 8GB - $145
Sony PS3 value bundle – $369
Nintendo DSi value bundle – $189
The CyberWeek shipping promotion on electronics gives customers the option to “ship home” for $.97 – shipping to store is always a no-cost option. Keep in mind this does not apply to video games or iPods.
So how does Walmart stack up against the competition? A quick trip to Sonystyle.com will reward you with a $20 savings on the KDL-32L504 32-inch LCD TV. They are currently selling it for $379.99 - shipping is also free to your home. Amazon.com is selling the 8GB iPod Nano for $129.99 with free shipping and no tax in most states. If you are willing to do without the car charger and carry case you will save about $20 and a trip to the store by making the purchase from Amazon (there is no shipping available for the iPod bundle, Walmart forces you to come out to the store to get it). As far as the rest of the deals go, the digital camera bundle is priced about $15 below competition, and the video game bundles are also competitive.
The best part of Internet shopping is the ability to compare store to store so quickly. Comparison shopping is as easy as opening up two browser windows and searching for the same item at multiple retailers. Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy will all be battling for customers this holiday season. Shop smart by comparing prices, shipping, and possible tax savings. Also check sites like savings.com for any coupon codes. Remember, when it comes to shopping on the Internet, a quick Google search may be all you need to find the best price.
