Frypan digital has brought to the App store a unique iPhone application: the Minneapolis Skyway. Unlike any predecessor before them, this app combines an easy to use interface and ability to find just about anything.
The Minneapolis Skyway System is 8 miles long, the largest in the world. This means that getting lost is very probable since there only a handful of signs and maps available to navigate through them.
The app offers smooth granular controls to find a comprehensive list of merchants, including phone numbers, websites, and physical address according to the iTunes release.
Casey Holley, who was involved with the marketing aspect of the app, explained the importance of social media (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn) and his rewarding experience after the app was released in Apple’s successful mobile platform.
“I think the biggest thing for us and at the heart of it all we really wanted to create something cool for ourselves and for Minneapolis since we call this place home,” said Holley.” We wanted to give something valuable to the residents of Minneapolis & St. Paul, as well as the fine people that make a living selling in the skyway."
The marketing specialist reiterated that making this app was really about creating something refreshing and that provided value to our users for the iPhone, iPod and iPad. The application can be downloaded for free.
The project was not his entire operation since John Haddad, in charge of business operations, and Jane Mitchell (the developer and designer) were instrumental pieces to completing this adventure.
“The biggest hurdle that we faced happened five months into the project. Our developer at the time backed out,” said Holley. “The developer that took over the project picked up all the slack, and she really did all the heavy lifting. She delivered exactly what we envisioned in our minds.”
The Minneapolis Skyway app was downloaded 100 times before Memorial Day weekend. The full announcement is scheduled to be this week. Frypan digital is looking to release this similar app for the Droid.

Totally cool! As an older person, any apps are still gee-whiz to me. Recently, I have come to appreciate Google maps for iPhone and MetrO, thanks to some tutoring from two 25-year-olds (!). MetrO really helped us on our international trip. From the Mankato Frugal Living Examiner.
