On Friday, July 9, 2010, Honest Tea conducted the first leg of their social experiment in Atlanta, Georgia.
An unmanned pop-up store was set up at Peachtree Mall. The Honest Store offered bottles of Honest Tea for $1.00. Since the store was unmanned, those who purchased the tea had to be on the honor system to pay for it. All the while hidden cameras and the media watched to see what would happen
There are not statistics on what percentage of people paid for their Honest Tea, but some photographs and a bit of video are available. People seem to have had a very good time.
The social experiment continues tomorrow, Saturday, July 10, in various locations in Atlanta. What will happen remains to be seen. Will Atlanta prove to be an more honest city than New York or Boston? That will not be known until after all the footage from tomorrow is viewed and the numbers counted.
