Review: SenTeaMental Moods, a Chicago-based mail order tea company, offers a great selection of regular and blended teas, teawares, and tea-themed merchandise on its website. They were recently good enough to send me a sample of their signature blend, Chicago Passion, a blend of black and green teas flavored with papaya, passion fruit, and sunflower.
The dry leaves have a super fruity nose, and I noted that the tea leaves used in this blend are a bit longer and less broken than I would have expected in a flavored tea. The tea infuses up to a medium brown liquor that is fruity, refreshing, and not too tart. The green/black blend provides nice structure to the tea, with a bit of a "kick" at the finish. I tried this tea both hot and iced, and found that I preferred the iced version better.
Preparation Tip: Because the tea is a black/green blend, I'd recommend taking the water temperature down to about 190F or so to avoid scorching the green tea leaves.
Get a Sample: SenTeaMental Moods offers customers the opportunity to get up to three tea samples for a small shipping and handling charge.

I like the way you write reviews.
Chicago Passion is a favorite tea in our office! And we love SenTeaMental Moods' tea-of-the-month. Makes a really fun gift because you never know what surprise will be coming.
I prefer Tropical Sencha. It has notes of mango and is very mellow. I like to use a little more than the recommended teaspoon to get a blast of that sweetness in my teacup after the hot water has hit the leaves. It is just what the doctor ordered after a long day.
I love Chicago Passion tea. It is probably my favorite of all the teas from Senteamental Moods I have tried. It is also delicious as an ice tea.
Loves the floral blend both hot and cold, its my daily
respite. SenTeaMental Moods is the great source for gift giving ..
I served this tea at a tea party and everyone loved it. I prefer this tea to any standard two-flavor mix. It's wonderful and makes a great gift for folks who no longer live in Chicago but miss it.
