Pinellas teacher accused of sending porn to student

An Azalea Middle School teacher is accused of sending pornographic pictures via cell phone to a 14-year-old student. In the latest in a string of teacher/student sex scandals, Christy Lynn Martin, 32, is charged with one count of transmitting pornographic images through an electric device and one count of transmitting material harmful to a minor.

According to detectives with the St. Petersburg Police Department, Martin has admitted to sending nude photos of herself to the boy who in return, sent a picture of himself.

“My understanding is he is not one of her current students, but may have been one in the past,” said police spokesman Bill Proffitt.

Martin has been a full-time teacher at Azalea Middle School since the fall of 2008 and before that was a teacher’s assistant there.
