Not all of my favorite tourist attractions are off-the-beaten-track. The Cliffs of Moher are a prime example of this. They are, in fact, among the busiest sights in Ireland. Let me assure you that no one hates seeing parking lots full of tour buses more than I do. In this case, however, it is well worth the hassle!
These spectacular cliffs stretch for five miles above the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The highest point is more than seven-hundred feet above the water.
O'Brien's Tower (pictured) proudly stands on the headland.
Enjoy the magnificent views from the cliffs. Sights include the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, and the twelve pins of Connemara. Let the fresh sea-air blow through your hair, and listen to the colonies of nesting birds that make their homes among the rocky crevices.
Although covered with tourists, the numbers dwindle the further you venture from the visitor center. There is an $8 per vehicle admission fee.
Don’t miss out on these majestic cliffs during your stay in County Clare, Ireland.
